Dhahirah Governorate Launches Key Projects To Promote Tourism And Drive Economic Growth In Oman

The Dhahirah Governorate in Oman is taking significant steps to amplify its tourism sector and promote its rich cultural and natural heritage. Recently, the governorate revealed the launch of two important tenders aimed at enhancing the region’s tourism appeal. These initiatives are set to play a crucial role in supporting the local economy and attracting a growing number of visitors to the region.

The first of the two tenders focuses on the marketing and promotion of the highly anticipated Dhahirah Tourism Festival 2026. This festival, a major cultural event, will highlight the region’s diverse heritage and natural landscapes. The tender aims to attract professionals and firms capable of developing impactful strategies to raise the event’s profile internationally.

This move is part of a broader strategy to position the Dhahirah Governorate as a prime tourist destination in Oman, with a focus on cultural and environmental tourism. The governorate’s leadership has underscored the importance of such initiatives in boosting regional tourism and enhancing its visibility in global tourism circuits.

The marketing tender invites businesses to submit proposals that can effectively amplify the festival’s appeal, increase tourist traffic, and generate a significant buzz around the event. By securing a strategic partnership for festival promotion, the governorate aims to engage a diverse audience, including both local residents and international tourists. The festival’s success is expected to draw thousands of visitors, bringing much-needed economic activity to the region.

The deadline for submissions is set for September 9, allowing potential bidders ample time to prepare their proposals. Once finalized, the selected firm will be tasked with managing the festival’s promotions across multiple platforms, reaching both regional and global audiences.

In tandem with the marketing efforts, the second tender focuses on the organizational, implementation, and operational aspects of the Dhahirah Tourism Festival 2026. This tender will attract companies experienced in event management, logistics, and operations to handle the smooth execution of the festival.

The goal of this tender is to ensure that every aspect of the festival, from planning to final execution, is carried out seamlessly. This includes managing venues, coordinating with vendors, arranging entertainment, and ensuring that the event runs smoothly for visitors. The implementation of this tender will contribute directly to the creation of a world-class event that will draw tourism to Dhahirah, improving both the quantity and quality of visitors.

The festival itself will offer a variety of attractions, including traditional music and dance performances, local food and craft exhibitions, and various cultural activities that showcase the essence of Dhahirah. The region’s natural beauty will also be highlighted, allowing visitors to explore its stunning landscapes, historical sites, and unique cultural landmarks.

Parallel to the festival preparations, another ambitious project, Itlalat Yanqul (Yanqul View), is making notable progress. The construction of this sustainable leisure and tourism hub is already 45% complete, with extensive development taking place across a vast area of 65,000 square meters. The project is estimated to cost around RO1.86 million and is designed to be a key component in Dhahirah’s efforts to become a hub for eco-friendly tourism.

Itlalat Yanqul will feature a range of facilities aimed at enhancing the visitor experience, such as an open-air theatre, sports courts, a children’s playground, barbecue zones, and water features. These amenities will cater to families, sports enthusiasts, and nature lovers, offering something for everyone. Furthermore, restaurants and cafes will provide a variety of dining options, ensuring that visitors can enjoy a comfortable and memorable experience.

In addition to these facilities, the project will include green spaces that promote sustainability and provide recreational areas for families and nature enthusiasts. The incorporation of agricultural elements in the design will highlight the region’s commitment to preserving its natural heritage while supporting the local economy through tourism.

The Itlalat Yanqul project is expected to play a pivotal role in boosting the region’s tourism infrastructure. By offering a high-quality, eco-friendly environment for visitors, the project will enhance the overall tourism experience in Dhahirah and provide a new destination for tourists looking for a blend of nature, culture, and modern leisure. The development is designed to attract not only local tourists but also international visitors seeking sustainable travel options.

The sustainable design of the project aligns with global tourism trends that favor environmentally conscious destinations, offering a unique opportunity for Dhahirah to differentiate itself in the competitive tourism market. The project’s completion will also have a significant positive impact on the local economy, creating jobs and stimulating various sectors, including hospitality, retail, and agriculture.

The combination of the Dhahirah Tourism Festival 2026 and the Itlalat Yanqul project demonstrates the governorate’s commitment to transforming tourism into a key pillar of its economic development. The initiatives will not only promote Dhahirah’s cultural and environmental diversity but also contribute to a more sustainable tourism model that can generate long-term benefits for the region.

As the tourism sector in Dhahirah continues to evolve, these projects are expected to attract a growing number of visitors each year, contributing to Oman’s broader goal of diversifying its economy through tourism. By showcasing the region’s rich heritage and natural landscapes, Dhahirah is poised to become a must-visit destination for travelers seeking authentic experiences and sustainable tourism options.
